THE PROVIDENCE CATHOLIC DRESS CODE POLICIES FOR POLO SHIRTS, SWEATERS, AND FLEECE

Our vision and mission statements require that we direct our attention to our relationship with God and achieving excellence in academics and in other areas of student life.  Our goal is to remove distractions from learning and the inequality provided by the various fashion labels and provocative dress styles.  Working in partnership with our supplier, Midwest Promotional Group we have offered an unprecedented array of colors, styles and sizes so that the student will still have some flexibility to express their uniqueness without superficiality.  We have worked with Midwest Promotional Group to develop a system for purchasing our new clothing line that is convenient for our families.  The bookstore will only have a small stock of items in varying sizes and colors available for purchase.

When ordering and wearing the new dress code polo shirts, sweaters and fleece the policy of Providence Catholic is as follows:

  1. All polo shirts and sweaters must fit with a loose fit.  The rule of acceptance is for a tennis ball to be able to move freely under the garment.
  2. All polo shirts must be purchased in a size that allows the garment to remain tucked in the pants.  Special attention should be given to bending, sitting, and raising one’s arms so that the shirt will always remain tucked in the pants.
  3. Any shirt that does not fit in accordance to Providence policy will not be allowed to be worn.  Shirts that do not fit according to Providence policy will be covered with an oversized loaner shirt.  The student will surrender their ID for that day and receive a detention.  Their ID will be returned when the loaner shirt is returned at the end of the day.
  4. Only the top 2 buttons on any polo may be unbuttoned.
  5. The V-neck sweaters and the fleece must be worn with a Providence polo shirt under them.
  6. A short sleeve polo may not be worn with any type of long sleeve shirt under it.

Avoid any problems with sizing by trying on polo shirts, sweaters or fleece at the school before you order them.  For your convenience a full run of sizing samples will be available at Freshmen Registration on February 25th, Parent-Teacher Conference on February 28th, the Mother’s Club Meeting on March 18th, and the Academic Awards Assembly on May 8th.  Individual examination of samples must be set up by appointment with Mrs. Foster, Dean of Students.

The Website and the Products

All the garments generally run “True to Size”.  The Outer Banks shirts run a little longer than the Chestnut Hill shirts.  If the polo's are dried on medium heat and hung right away neither seem to shrink more than minimally.  There are samples in the Dean's office that have been washed and dried over 10 times with little shrinkage or color loss.

On the site, you will notice that all the merchandise is offered in a standard set of sizes and colors and they are also made available as a special order in various other sizes and colors. Standard items are stocked in our warehouses and available for prompt shipment throughout the school year. Special order items are not warehoused and will be custom made specifically for your order so delivery times will vary. The cost of a standard and a special order item will be the same with the only difference being their availability.

All orders received by May 31st will be shipped over the summer and are guaranteed in your hands before beginning of classes for the 2008 / 2009 school year. After that date, special orders will be run infrequently (approximately monthly) and the variety of colors and sizes is NOT GUARANTEED.

Special Order Merchandise is not returnable for any reason other than manufacturer's defect and the return of these goods for sizing issues will not be accepted.
